FAQs / Help

Here at Flossie.com we hope that we've kept things pretty simple, but to find out a bit more about how we operate, check out our FAQs below.

If you can't find what you're looking for - head over to our contact page to ask us directly....

Where can I find my vouchers?

You can stop looking - they're right here!

What is Flossie?

Flossie.com is the first online vanity club where members receive the best possible prices on leading hair, beauty and cosmetic treatments from reputable professionals.

Flossie.com is 'guilt-free all about me' - helping women look and feel good without breaking the bank.
Featuring calendar 'quiet day' appointments and daily special offers, Flossie.com also has the ultimate salon & stylist directory(computer with social media rankings so you can see what your peers thought), and a loyalty program for encouraging customer rebookings.

I've got a question about an offer or deal...

We recommend heading over to the deal page and asking your question on there - the salon owners answer the questions here regularly to make sure you know exactly what you're buying.

Is Flossie just a deal site?

We think we're pretty different from a standard deal site. Firstly, we are specifically focused on helping salon owners fill spare / quiet times - not just sell off loads of vouchers. We think that there are customers who'd like to go into get more treatments done more often - and would like to be rewarded for making their appointment fit with the salon owners quiet time.

We also know that you ladies are chomping at the bit to make your appointments online, and that's what we're going to bring to you as soon as we can.

Do I make my appointments through Flossie.com?

No, you buy the voucher through us and then call to make the appointment with the salon (all details will be on the voucher). We hope to bring you an online booking service in the very near future!

I used Facebook Connect to join Flossie.com does that mean all my friends see everything I do on the site?

No! The only time anything goes on Facebook is when you directly give permission for us to post on your wall (we'll ask you at the time).

What are Flossie dollars?

Flossie dollars are our loyalty programme to encourage you to continue booking with the same salon. It works like a coffee card - it should work out that for every ten visits you make to a salon, your 11th will be free. Simply keep purchasing like you normally would and where applicable Flossie dollars will be added to your My Flossie Purchases page. Do be aware that some deals are so good that they won't be able to offer Flossie dollars as well as the discount.

How do I redeem my Flossie dollars?

Flossie dollars can be spent once they're enough to buy a single item (they can't be used to make a part payment). We'll track how many appointments you've made at a particular salon and through your My Flossie page you'll be able to see how long you've got until you can use your free visit. Then when you go to book it, you can click where it says, "redeem voucher" or "use Flossie dollars".

Can I use Flossie dollars at any salon?

No, you can only use your Flossie dollars at the salon you've purchased and earned dollars from.

What if my voucher expires?

Once you've made the purchase your voucher will be made available to you. The terms of the voucher will clearly state how long you have until expiry. We recommend that you don't wait until the last minute to make your booking - call as soon as you can and secure your spot that suits you best. We'll send you some reminders to make sure you don't forget about it too!

If you do either forget about it or don't get around to it, the voucher will expire. However, it is at the sole discretion of the salon owner if they will still honour your voucher. They are under no responsibility or obligation to do so, but maybe you can strike a deal with them - we'll leave that one up to you to negotiate on (we got you the initial deal!)

What if I can't get through to the salon I'm trying to make my appointment with?

We've worked really hard to make sure we've vetted and selected salons that we know have exemplary customer services. However, sometimes things happen and customers don't get exactly what they should. If you're experiencing customer services issues with a salon - let us know and we'll do our best to help get you sorted out and booked in. Head here to our contact page to get in touch.

What if I'm unhappy with the service I received?

Well for a start we're really sorry to hear that - no one likes a poor experience, especially us! We'd like to turn that frown upside down! Get in touch with us here and we'll make sure we can figure out a way to make that happen.

All salons are obligated under New Zealand laws to provide a service meeting with the Consumer Guarantees Act. If you'd like to review our Terms and Conditions for this - please click here.

How do I make an appointment to use my voucher?

Once you've purchased the voucher, just use the contact details listed on it to call or email to make an appointment. You can chat with the salon about the best time to come in that suits both of you, that fits with the terms and conditions of your voucher.

I want to change my appointment time, how do I do that?

Simply call the salon you have the voucher for and see if you can make the change. Remember, that you may have purchased a time specific voucher - so you'll need to keep within those parameters (it's up to the sole discretion of the salon if they wish to offer you an appointment outside of those hours - they are not under any obligation to do so).

I'm not going to be able to make the appointment I've made, what happens now?

Make sure you call the salon and make a change in the appointment time with them directly. They'll be happy to make a change, as long as you still fit within the terms of the voucher (and you give them sufficient notice).

Oops, I didn't make my appointment time before the voucher expired; can I get a refund or rebook?

It's kind of like missing a flight - the flight is gone, so unfortunately, no you can't get a refund or rebook. But once again, we encourage you to call the salon and politely grovel and maybe they'll give you a discount off another appointment so that you can experience their services in another quiet time slot.

Why are the appointment prices so reasonable? Shouldn't they be this price all the time?

Like all businesses, salons have really busy times and then other times not quite so busy. Ideally, they'd like to fill these times too - and hopefully either encourage a customer to come back more frequently or get a new customer to try them out. The best way to do this is to offer an incentive (in the form of an add on, discount or gift with purchase) in return for fitting into these quiet times.

How do I pay for the service?

We take credit and debit cards using Direct Payment Services, a highly reputable online services company (Trade Me and Grab One both use this service). This ensures a secure payment for you without risk of credit card fraud.

The process is simple, you pay us to buy the voucher, you then receive the voucher automatically and can call the salon to make your appointment. You show them the voucher (either on your phone or printed out) and then they provide you the service. You don't need to make any payment to them (unless you decide to upgrade your service or buy additional items).

If you're purchasing a surgical procedure through us, you're simply purchasing a consultation from us to meet with the surgeon. Once you and the surgeon have met and agreed that you are a suitable candidate for the procedure, then you pay them (and the consultation you paid us is deducted from this amount).

How do I find out more about the salon that I'm booking?

We've created Salon Pages so that you can see all the information you may need to know about a salon - including who works there, what their trading hours are, where they are located and any awards or look book information. We'll also handily link to their website and any social media pages they may have.

What are your Terms & Conditions of use?

Why do you need my email address and what will you do with it?

Like you, we don't like to cluttered inboxes. We also take personal security seriously. Each day we'll send you an update of the great new offers on site - and that's it! You'll also get emails from us when you make purchases through Flossie.com. But your email address will not be disclosed to any third party without permission. Our Terms and Conditions can be read in full here.

What happens to my credit card and billing information?

We obtain your Credit card and billing information via a fully encrypted Secure Socket Layer connection (SSL). Because of this your personal information is securely kept. It also means that we can (with your permission) store your credit card and billing information to pay for any purchases ongoing.

Is Flossie safe to use?

Yes! We have enlisted the help of the professional security guys Direct Payment Solutions who ensure that your credit card transactions are transmitted by a secure encrypted link (SSL) to a secure electronic vault.

What is the Flossie.com returns policy?

Once a purchase has been made and your transaction has been completed, your voucher is valid and non-refundable. However, we certainly will ensure that we do our bit to meet all parts of the New Zealand Consumer Guarantee's Act. We don't provide exchanges or returns for changes of mind though.

What if the salon that I buy the Flossie voucher for closes down or refuses to honour the voucher (even though not expired)?

Should the company who is responsible for delivering the voucher service close down; we will ensure a full refund is made to you. If you are having issues with having your voucher honoured - please get in contact with us so that we can ensure you can get Flossied sooner rather than later!

Can I buy a Flossie voucher as a gift?

Yes you can! Make sure you check the 'this is a gift' and we'll then ask you questions about who you'd like to make the voucher out to and their contact email address. You can even include a nice note! Then, once you've paid for the voucher, we'll send them a pretty cool email (from you) saying whatever you've told us to, inviting them to come and redeem their voucher. What a way to make someone's day!

I have a voucher, how do I redeem it?

If you have the voucher on email, you'll note it has a 'click here' to redeem - follow that link and it will all be self explanatory from there!

My voucher entitled me to more services than I used, can I get use the remainder later or get cash back?

It's your call should you decide to not use all the voucher entitles you to. It's also entirely up to the sole discretion of the salon to enable you to split your visits - they're under no obligation to do outside of the terms of the voucher. Unless otherwise stated no cash backs are permissible.

Does Flossie charge its members for using the site?

No, we do not charge any membership fees for using the site.

Do you ever remove comments from the site on a deal?

Ordinarily, no. But in extreme circumstances where we think that something defamatory or illegal has been said - we will remove a post. If you have a concern about a comment - please send us an email.
