Welcome to the Flossie beta

Welcome to version 1.2 of Flossie.com! Yes, that's right - version 1.2! You may have already seen us in our previous incarnation as an online magazine for women, but this is the new, improved and so much more useful 2012 version!

So, what is it then? Flossie.com is a Vanity Club. A what?? Yes, that's right - a place where you can feel guilt-free about wanting to look good (but not necessarily pay the earth for the privilege). We want you to be able to head back in to see your therapist or stylist more frequently. We do that by offering members a chance to fill quiet-time appointments and in return receive discounts, products and other incentives. A simple model!

BUT it IS a work in progress. Why's that, we hear you say? Well, this is a big project. We're not thinking small here. We've got a VISION but it's going to take some time to achieve. We want to make Flossie.com THE booking channel for ALL of your hair and beauty appointments. But that's not something we can just jump straight into. You know how you go into some salons and they're still using a paper-based diary to schedule appointments? Well, that's why we can't just jump straight to doing integrated appointments and offering an iPhone app (both of which are in the vision!) There's a lot of love to be given out first to get all the people who need to be technically embraced, embraced. If you know what we mean.

That means that what you get today is our starting point only - hence why we're calling it BETA. Firstly we need to prove that this can work - that you ladies will happily head back into salon or spa more often if you're rewarded for your loyalty. So step one - let's get you buying! Figuring that you already know how to use the deal sites, we've essentially 'poked the eyes' out of the good bits of those (e.g. the great consumer offers available every day that can be quickly purchased). But knowing that you're also a wee bit 'over' those sites, we've put in place some extra bits and bobs that will ensure you get the best possible experience (like only offering an extremely limited number of vouchers for each deal, the appointments are for quiet-times only and we're only working with highly reputable salons).

So what's next and when? If all our hunches turn out to be correct, then we'll go live with version 2 - where we'll offer actual appointments that can be made online. For instance, you could book a wax for this Wednesday at 9.15am. Or you could even use your mobile phone when you're out and about to see what's available in your area today.

All we need you to do is find things you like, buy it, turn up and if you like it - buy again! Simple!
